Identify the UK company before opening an account
The FCA register identifies FXOpen Ltd as authorised. Match the firm reference, legal name and official contact details before entering information or sending money. The register also carries warnings about impersonating businesses; those warnings must not be confused with the status of the legitimate firm.
The FXOpen review distinguishes the UK business from FXOpen Markets Limited and FXOpen EU Ltd. A shared logo, app or affiliate link does not move your contract to the FCA-regulated company. Read the legal entity named in the agreement presented during onboarding.
For a residence question, use the FXOpen country guide and the current UK application requirements. Do not treat selecting English or a UK website as proof that the company can accept you. This guide did not submit an application or test account approval.
UK accounts, minimum funding and platforms

The current UK account page lists a minimum of £300, $300 or €300, and MT4, MT5 and TickTrader. These are account terms; a payment method’s lower transaction threshold does not establish that the live account can be started with that lower amount.
The account-types guide explains how current ECN terms differ from retired Micro, STP and Crypto account pages. Before funding, confirm the platform and currency offered in your own portal. A legacy how-to article can retain an account name after onboarding has changed.
Platform choice should follow the tools you need. Existing MetaTrader code needs the correct platform version; TickTrader uses a different program environment. Check compatibility and practise order management before moving a strategy. None of those platform choices eliminates CFD risk.
Read a complete UK cost quote
Use the FXOpen fee guide to separate spread, commission, overnight adjustments, conversion and payment charges. Obtain the UK schedule for the specific account and instrument. A headline starting spread is a floor, not a measured average or the full cost of a trade.
For forex commission, confirm whether the amount is per side and in the base currency of the traded pair. Also check the tier conditions before treating the lowest advertised rate as your own quote. If the account currency differs, conversion can affect the money amount shown on the statement.
Do the payment check separately. The UK funding-fee schedule has method and currency conditions. Confirm the method available in the verified portal, the amount that will arrive after any conversion and the route for returning funds. A zero broker fee in one table does not rule out a bank or payment-provider charge.
Retail leverage and margin do different jobs

The UK retail page states leverage up to 1:30. That is a maximum for the relevant retail offering, not a guarantee that every instrument uses it. Professional-client conditions are a separate eligibility and protection decision; they are not a routine setting that every retail client can choose.
Use the margin calculator for an illustrative collateral calculation, then compare the result with the instrument’s actual requirements. A position may satisfy margin rules while risking more than your planned loss. Margin is not a stop-loss or a maximum-loss amount.
The current account page also lists margin call and stop-out levels. Treat those as account controls, not an invitation to trade close to them. A fast market can make forced closure a poor substitute for choosing a manageable position size in advance.
What do UK client protections cover?
The UK client terms provide retail negative-balance protection under their stated conditions. This is different from protection against losing the amount you deposit. Segregation of client money and regulatory oversight also do not make leveraged trades profitable or remove operational risk.
For eligible investment claims if an authorised firm fails, FSCS investment protection is up to £85,000 per person per firm, subject to the scheme’s rules. It does not reimburse ordinary poor investment performance. Do not substitute the separate bank-deposit protection limit for this investment-claim limit.
Check the client classification in your agreement and whether the relevant claim is covered. A marketing phrase such as protected funds cannot answer all those conditions. If you need certainty about a particular compensation scenario, consult the scheme’s own eligibility material.
What should you retain if a problem occurs?
Keep the signed agreement, account type, statements and payment references. For a disputed trade, retain the order ID, instrument, timestamp and error message. Clear records make an account issue easier to investigate than an informal description of what a chart appeared to show.
Use the complaint procedure and official contacts for FXOpen Ltd, not the policy of another group entity. Follow the escalation information in the UK agreement and regulator record if the initial response does not resolve the issue. Do not share passwords or authentication codes as part of a complaint.
Forex and CFDs carry a high risk of loss. Assess whether the product is suitable for your circumstances before opening an account, and distinguish a regulator’s authorisation from an endorsement of your trading plan.
Frequently asked questions
Is FXOpen UK regulated by the FCA?
FXOpen Ltd is listed as authorised on the FCA register under firm reference 579202. Match the legal entity and official contact details with your agreement. This status belongs to the UK firm and should not be applied automatically to another FXOpen company.
What is the minimum deposit for FXOpen UK?
The current UK account page lists £300, $300 or €300. Check the account currency and the amount required in your own portal. A lower minimum shown for a payment method is a transaction threshold and does not replace the account-opening requirement.
Does FXOpen UK offer MT4 and MT5?
Current UK account material lists MT4, MT5 and TickTrader. Confirm the platform issued for your account and use the official regional download route. A platform download does not itself create an approved live account or guarantee compatibility with every indicator or EA.
Are FXOpen UK trading losses covered by FSCS?
FSCS investment protection concerns eligible claims when an authorised firm fails, subject to scheme rules, with a limit of £85,000 per person per firm. It does not reimburse ordinary trading losses or poor performance. Retail negative-balance protection is a separate contractual safeguard.
Can every UK client use professional leverage?
No. Professional-client treatment has eligibility requirements and can change protections. The UK retail account page advertises leverage up to 1:30, with instrument conditions. Do not treat a higher professional limit as a standard setting available to every retail account.
