Tickmill India: Availability Restrictions and RBI Rules
Tickmill’s global service excludes Indian residents. Read the RBI’s permitted-provider rules, overseas-margin restriction and steps for existing problems.
Tickmill’s global service lists India among its restricted countries. An Indian resident should not treat a working website, downloadable app or overseas Tickmill licence as permission to open and fund that service. The current Welcome Account terms exclude India separately.
The RBI also sets conditions for residents’ forex transactions and overseas margin payments. This guide explains those restrictions and how to organise an existing-account question. It does not provide a registration or funding workaround.
The provider’s residence restriction comes first
The current Tickmill legal and licence page names India in its service restrictions. That is a direct limitation from the provider. A third-party review claiming “available in India” does not override it.
Do not select another country, submit an inaccurate address or use someone else’s account to obtain access. If you have moved between countries, ask Tickmill for the permitted process using your actual circumstances. Citizenship, residence, travel and payment location can raise different questions; this article does not determine a person’s legal residency.
The country directory provides the broader entity context. Our Tickmill review describes the broker’s international product and limitations, not a recommendation that Indian residents open it.
What the RBI says about resident forex activity
The RBI forex-transactions FAQ, updated 28 August 2024, says residents may undertake forex transactions only with authorised persons and for permitted purposes. Electronic transactions must use authorised electronic trading platforms or recognised exchanges under the applicable rules.
The FAQ also says absence from the RBI Alert List does not establish authorisation. The right check is the authorised-provider or platform record, not whether someone can find a broker name missing from a warning page.
This distinction prevents a common mistake: treating a foreign regulator’s licence as the RBI’s permission. The company, service, instrument and resident transaction all matter. If the exact permission cannot be established, a promoter’s assurance is not a substitute.
The LRS overseas-margin restriction matters
The same RBI FAQ says remittances under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme cannot be used for margin or margin calls to overseas exchanges or counterparties. A general ability to send money abroad does not mean every trading-related purpose is permitted.
A bank card, wallet or third-party transfer changes the mechanism of payment; it does not establish a new permitted purpose. Do not describe a proposed trading payment as travel, education or another purpose to get it processed.
For an account-specific legal question, identify the intended contract and transaction clearly when seeking advice. Avoid a vague enquiry such as “Can I send rupees abroad?” when the actual purpose is an overseas leveraged position.
Software access and educational tools are separate
Downloading MetaTrader does not authorise a broker account. A login screen can be accessible even where a provider does not accept a resident’s application. The same is true of general charting or calculator pages.
If you are learning position arithmetic, our pip-value calculator can help explain how price changes affect a hypothetical position. It neither approves the underlying transaction nor connects to a broker.
The demo-account guide explains the distinction between simulation and live funds. Its descriptions are not instructions to bypass a country restriction. Likewise, the login guide is relevant to understanding credentials or recovering access, not proof of eligibility to resume trading.

India is excluded from the Welcome Account too
India appears in the excluded-country list in the Welcome Account terms. This is additional to the provider’s general service restriction. A no-deposit label, bonus code or existing app installation does not remove either condition.
The bonus guide explains the offer for eligible clients, including the difference between introductory funds and transferable profit. For an Indian resident, the restriction is the immediate answer; there is no appropriate claim workflow to recommend here.
If you already have funds or an unresolved request
Start with records, not another deposit. Save the account agreement, full company name, wallet statement, bank entries and original correspondence. Note when the account was opened and whether your residence changed. Those details allow support and an adviser to address the actual situation.
- Ask official Tickmill support what actions are permitted for the existing account and how a balance or pending request should be handled.
- Record the withdrawal reference and whether the broker says it is under review or already sent.
- Use the withdrawal-problems guide to organise that evidence without assuming a result or arrival date.
- Ask your bank or an appropriately qualified adviser about the payment and reporting implications. Do not invent a different purpose for a transfer.
- If fraud is suspected, preserve messages, recipient details and receipts for the appropriate reporting channel.
The RBI FAQ directs complaints about unauthorised forex electronic trading platforms to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, among the channels described there. Reporting a concern does not establish a guaranteed recovery or prove that every disputed transaction was fraudulent.
An unfamiliar “recovery agent” asking for a release payment should not become your next funding route. Verify the recipient and any instruction independently. Keep identification documents and full account numbers out of public reviews or comment threads.
Frequently asked questions
Does Tickmill accept Indian residents through its global service?
India is named in the current global service restriction. Do not treat website or app access as acceptance.
Can an overseas licence replace RBI authorisation?
No. The relevant company, platform, service and resident transaction need the permissions required by the applicable Indian rules.
Can LRS be used for an overseas margin payment?
The RBI FAQ says margin or margin-call remittances to overseas exchanges or counterparties are not permitted under LRS.
Can Indian residents claim the Welcome Account?
India is explicitly excluded by the current Welcome Account terms.
What should an existing account holder do?
Keep the agreement and transaction records, ask official support about permitted account actions, and seek qualified guidance on payment or reporting implications. Do not make a new deposit to bypass a restriction.
